Christopher Bews

President – Iron Horse Earthworks


Mr. Bews is the founder and President of Ironhorse Earthworks. Having come from a ranching background on the eastern slopes of the Rocky Mountains, Mr. Bews  has applied the principles of  hard work and dedication, integral in his upbringing, to Ironhorse, and as a result has experienced continuous growth since the company was established  in 1997.


With over 15 years of experience in the construction and environmental service sector, Mr. Bews has coordinated and supervised a wide range of medium- to large-scale site remediation and environmental construction projects, many of which have required his expertise in dealing with hazardous, non hazardous and UXO related projects. Mr. Bews has also been instrumental in the development of new remote technology for the removal of these hazardous materials, and further development of improved technology continues to be a focus of his work. 


As President of Iron Horse Earthworks Mr. Bews’ duties include: strategic planning, project management, corporate operations, client relations, contract development, and future expansion into new technologies.


In addition to his work with Ironhorse, Mr. Bews also brings a wealth of knowledge in the crushing and production of aggregates to his position as President of Copper Stone Crushing where he has established two large scale recycling facilities in the Calgary region and is involved in two large Ft. McMurray gravel operations. Applying this knowledge further, Mr. Bews is also the President of Pure Concrete and Aggregates, where he is responsible for pit design, operations and marketing.



Tyler Wilson, B. Mgt

Director – Sales & Operations


Mr. Wilson has many years of experience in the construction and environmental service sector.  During this time he also attained a Bachelor of Management Degree.  He has experience with a wide range of medium to large-scale site remediation and environmental construction projects.  Mr. Wilson has been involved in the earthworks industry at all levels; including senior management, field supervision, and equipment operation.  Mr. Wilson has also contributed to developing and maintaining corporate safety procedures.  Presently, Mr. Wilson is serving as Director – Sales & Operations for Iron Horse, where his duties include the planning, costing, scheduling, and total quality management of all of Iron Horse projects.



Billy Jones

General Superintendent – Iron Horse Earthworks


Summary of Qualifications

Mr. Jones has nearly two decades of experience in the heavy construction and resource industries.  His diverse background includes all aspects of heavy equipment operation as they pertain to mining, facility construction, wellsite reclamation, wellsite construction, forestry, road construction, water and sewer facility installation, and environmental.  He has worked as a heavy equipment operator in both British Columbia and Alberta in a variety of soil conditions and terrains. Currently Mr. Jones is responsible for the coordinating and in-field allocation of equipment and field personnel to active and upcoming projects.  He is responsible for the direct supervision of the activities of all field crews; including site supervisors, equipment operators, and labourers, and provides ongoing monitoring of equipment utilization/optimization, production rates, and workmanship.  He also serves as an advisor and mentor to junior equipment operators and foremen, and a liaison between field crews and project managers.


Nick McNiven, CSO

Health & Safety Officer – Iron Horse Earthworks


Summary of Qualifications

Mr. McNiven has years of experience in the health and safety industry.  His background includes various terms as an Oil & Gas Safety Officer and a Construction Safety Officer.  While in these positions his duties included the following; supervising work crews during gas plant turnaround projects, overseeing trades crews during plant construction projects, and developing and implementing safety programs for the construction of power generation plants.  Presently, Mr. McNiven is serving as Health and Safety Officer for Iron Horse, where his duties include the development, implementation, and maintenance of Iron Horse’s comprehensive corporate safety program.  He serves as an in-house training facilitator for all required oilfield courses and industry safety orientations, as well as Iron Horse’s site safety compliance auditor; responsible for conducting both planned and unplanned site inspections on field personnel.  He also performs all accident / incident investigations, maintains and updates all corporate safety policies and standards, monitors corporate safety statistics, and manages employee training databases.
